New Doro 8080 combines elegant design with usability and easy access to smart services especially for seniors
– Mature consumers on the rise: In 2020, 25 percent of Europe will be 60 or older. This trend leads to completely new requirements when it comes to participation of this age group in modern communication and the technologies required. With its new smartphone Doro 8080, the leading global supplier of telecommunication solutions for active seniors, is primarily appealing to active, mature consumers, who attach great importance to design and performance. The product’s range of functions as well as its operating concept differentiate it from mainstream offerings, which disregard the special needs of this user group. The new smartphone will be presented for the first time at IFA 2019, starting on September 6th, at the Doro booth hall 4.2 – 110.
The Doro 8080 targets active seniors, who value design and performance but are let down by mainstream offers that are not built for their needs, and do not take their needs into account.
The original idea for the Doro 8080 was to develop a smartphone that combines Doro’s proven usability with a high-quality, sophisticated design. In addition to focusing on user needs, the concept’s key aspects include the easy-to-use dialog navigation and the comprehensive service package, My Doro. Furthermore, the Doro 8080 offers an appealing Android experience for everyone. Thanks to Eva, the intuitive, action-based user interface, navigating the phone is as easy as having a conversation. Eva’ll ask the smartphone user what they would like to do and then carries out their request based on the answer – valuable support, especially in combination with Google Assistant.
Top design meets comprehensive functionality
Other features the developers paid special attention to include louder sound, easy-to-read display and text, integrated camera, fingerprint reader and assistance button for extra safety, as well as headphone jack with usual cable port. Additionally, the Doro 8080 offers its users access to exclusive services. These include, for example, Response by Doro®: By pushing the phone's subtly designed assistance button, help from relatives or an alarm centre can be accessed quickly and easily. This function offers greater peace of mind for everyone.
The bright 5.7-inch screen with 2:1 ratio offers the best compromise between screen real estate and portability. A CNC aluminium frame makes the smartphone a light and robust device, including premium stain protection, a grippy back paint and a special Dragontail Glass for drop and scratch resistance. When arranging the buttons, developers and designers assured that these are clearly separated from one other. A special home button allows the user to return to the start menu with a single press. The battery can be charged via a USB-C connection.
“The baby boomer generation has very specific ideas about how it wants to participate in the modern zeitgeist and communicate with friends, family and others, without having to compromise on the usability of technological solutions”, explains Carl-Johan Zetterberg Boudrie, President and CEO of Doro AB. “With the new Doro 8080 smartphone, we are providing this customer group with a high-quality device that meets these requirements.”
